social media treeSocial media managers and marketers rarely brag about an enormous budget. Most are working to market their brand on a limited budget and many are solo-preneuers or small business owners working on a shoestring budget. The great thing about social media is that you don't need a large corporation level budget to make things happen. You can be successful on social media with less; the key is to know how to do it.

If you are looking for a great social media strategy but worry your budget will hold you back, here are some tips to help.

  1. Know your objective. It's essential you create a strategy with your social media goals in focus. What do you want to achieve from your social accounts? Know your objective first, then everything else can come into play accordingly.

  2. Have a quality design. Visual graphics are very important to a strong social media presence. Your social media strategy should include quality images, solid branding and many visuals. Canva is a great tool that even has a free version and allows you to create stunning images without any graphic design experience.

  3. Allot what you can. One big problem with social media strategies on a budget is that they don't allow any room for budget at all. You don't need to spend a small fortune to find success but you need to be willing to invest some, both time and money, to see your goals completed.

  4. Track your progress. Analytics and reporting are an important part of your social media strategy. You must be able to track your progress to see what is working and what isn't, Haphazardly posting and hoping something sticks is not an efficient or cost-effective strategy for social media marketing.

The bottom line is, you work with what you've got. If you don't have a lot, that's okay. You just learn to make the absolute best of what you do have and stretch it as far as you can. You narrow your focus to the most important tasks and the things you can afford right now, then you do those things to the best of your ability. As you grow, your budget grows, and you can add more tasks to your strategy.
